the simplest things one can do to make oneself happier (*)...

There's nothing new I would be writing here. It's quite simple.
  • Exercise daily. Meditate daily. Follow a good routine.
  • Spend ample time with family and friends.
  • Practice gratitude, it always reciprocates.
  • Help others.
  • Celebrate other people's success.
  • Don't engage in over thinking.
  • Think positive. Act positive.
  • Let Go Of materialistic tendencies.
  • Get closer to your work by heart.
  • Be hopeful and optimistic about your future.
  • Don't compare yourself with anyone. You are unique.
  • Go outside and spend some time.
  • Give freely.
Very simple but very important points.
